Law Enforcing agencies have adopted foolproof security arrangements in the provincial metropolis to ensure maintenance of law and order and avoid any untoward incident during Eid days.

'We have finalised unprecedented security arrangements in the city for the protection of life and property of the people on Eid. All the Divisional SPs have already been asked to ensure round-the-clock patrolling, especially around the leading shopping centres and sensitive areas,' a senior police officer told Business Recorder on Thursday.

"Policemen in plain clothes and uniforms have been deployed at shopping centres and important markets. The police officials have also been asked to intensify patrolling during the peak hours. Traffic police personnel have also been deployed to ensure smooth flow of traffic," he said.

Policemen would be deployed at sensitive areas including eidgahs, mosques, imam bargahs and recreational places on Eid day and added that all SPs and SDPOs were personally responsible for security arrangements in their respective areas and they would report to the higher authorities after every hour on Eid day.

All SHOs would personally remain present at various spots in their jurisdiction and conduct snap checking before the Eid prayers.

Moreover, Eid prayers will be offered at over 500 mosques, parks, imam bargahs and open places in the provincial capital. Major Eid congregations will be held at the Badshahi Mosque (7.30 am), Jamia Masjid Data Darbar (7.30 am), Mansoora (8.30 am), Bagh-e-Jinnah (7.30 am) and Jamia Ashrafia.
